Love's First Light
I liked this book set during the French Revolution. I gave it 3 1/2 stars. It was interesting to read about the French Revolution from a male aristocrat prospective and also a fictional female relative of Robespierre. I enjoyed the love story and really like Jamie Carie's writing style.
My only nitpicky problems with the story were the historical inaccuracies. Typically, I'm not one of those readers who has to have everything completely accurate in order to enjoy the story, but it bugs me when facts that are generally known are overlooked. For instance, at the Festival of the Supreme Being, Carie describes a replica of the "Statue of Liberty" that France gave to America. The problem with this is that the Statue of Liberty wasn't even thought of until about 100 years later in 1865 and wasn't completed and dedicated until 1886. I know this is a fictional story, but it disappointed me that such a glaring mistake wouldn't have been caught by at least the editor. I felt a little disillusioned with the book after that, but I still enjoyed it.
