An Introduction to Continental Philosophy
Her ne kadar Hegel'den itibaren Kıta Avrupası Felsefesi ile Anglo-Sakson (analitik) Felsefesi arasında farkına varılmış harika bir girişle başlasa dahi kitap, pek çok açıdan okumak için zor ve yorucu idi. Bazı kişiler için (örneğin Nietzsche) yazarın kendi eserlerinden daha çok eserlerini yorumlayan kişilerin eserlerine (Kaufmann gibi) dayanarak kaynak göstermesi West'in bilgi ve birikimi konusunda da kuşku oluşmasını sağlayabiliyor (bende böyle oldu). Fazla hakim olmadığım, bilmediğim filozoflara ilişkin (Heidegger, Sartre, Derrida ya da Kierkegaard gibi) bölümlerde anlamakta çok zorlandım ama bu durumun kaynağında West'in anlatımındaki sorun mu var yoksa filozofların düşüncesi mi karmaşık, emin değilim. Tüm bunların sonucunda beş üzerinden üç yıldız veriyorum fakat ilk fırsatta ve eksik bölümler için daha fazla bilgiye sahip olur olmaz dönmek isteyebileceğim bir kitap.
