The Poorhouse
This book is more a study of the institution of the poorhouse itself, rather than one of individuals who lived there. There were some short anectdotes of inmates and those who ran poorhouses, but, as I was hoping for more detail on these people, I wasn't as pleased with it as I could have been.
As this book was written 2005 [I think:], I understand that it would be fairly difficult to get even second-hand accounts of life in a poorhouse, so perhaps an older book would be more what I was looking for.
