Ghosthunters and the Muddy Monster of Doom!: Ghosthunters #4
I borrowed this audiobook, not realizing that it is the fourth book in the Ghosthunters series by Cornelia Funke. I decided to finish it anyway, since it's such a short story.
The narrator does a great job portraying the various characters and the story is dramatic and exciting. I don't know if I'll go back and listen to the first three books, but I will keep this series in mind when I'm looking for a fast, fun read.
This story involves ghosts, demons, and other paranormal phenomena. The descriptions of the ghosts and ephemeral aspects of ghost hunting are quite descriptive. And the story is filled with crazy acronyms (which are defined within the narrative as well as included in Appendices at the end of the book).
The author recommends not reading the book after dark, and some children may find this book a bit too scary. In that case, I would suggest that they listen to the audiobook, since the comical voices used by the narrator help to offset the scary parts,.
