Taking The Bible Seriously
Read for an anthropology class about magic witchcraft and religion. once you get past the whole intimidating factor of not many pictures and long paragraphs, this book is pretty awesome. each chapter is an individual essay on the topic by various authors. it's well thought out and has lots of great information. most of it is very technical but from an anthropological way. I'll be honest, if I wasn't taking the class with the lecture accompanied every week, I'd be over it, but overall I enjoyed it.
I'd recommend this textbook as something to read, I'd even lend it out if you were curious to read a short but concise essay on one of the religions it covers.
