Increasingly, contractors are implementing a quality assurance system as part of their business strategy but such a system can be expensive and time consuming to design and implement, and there are often problems in running the system. This book, based on the authors' experience of creating a QA system for a medium sized contractor, provides practical guidance on the finer details of the process. It explains the problems and pitfalls of the implementation process, and provides an integrated series of procedures, flowcharts and forms which can be adapted to provide the basis of a QA system for medium to large contractors and their professional advisers. The book is a practical guide to quality management and outlines the basic ingredients necessary for an integrated system. The primary aim of the process described is to improve the way in which a company is run, with the achievement of an ISO 9000 certificate as its secondary aim. The new edition has been revised to take account of ISO 9000 and the changes in emphasis introduced by the standard. A new chapter has been added to deal with maintaining and improving the system, as well as an expanded section on auditing.
