Child Support's Wacky Math: How Errors in Math and Logic Used in Determining Shared-Custody Child Support Creates Unfairness and Discord in the Commonwealth of Virginia Book

The mathematical formula used for many years to determine child support in shared custody situations is grossly in error and yet has never been seriously questioned. This formula, or a derivation, is used not only by the Commonwealth of Virginia, but by numerous other states as well. It discriminates against the non-custodial parent (usually the father) and unfairly benefits the custodial parent. The author, a divorced father who also grew up as a child of divorced parents, provides a unique viewpoint in the hopes that discrimination be eliminated and fairness applied to all divorce situations, especially those involving children.
