This does exactly what it promises - it looks at fashion in a great deal of detail. A gorgeous book with some truly beautiful illustrations, it takes you through the construction of 19th century fashion - the design, how it is put together, what materials are used, and how it is worn. Great insights for me into how a person would take their clothes off (if you're a Victorian woman, with a lot of help and not in a hurry) and what goes into making up a toilette. I will be going back to this again and again for my own writing.
