Slightly Tempted (Bedwyn Family Series) Book

I really cannot decide if I like these people



Series: Yep

Sexy times: A few. But I cannot say there were well done. The first one left me going "What just happened?"

Plan on reading more by the author: Yes - in fact, I'm reading the last book in the series.

Synopsis: So there's some serious history between Gervase and the Duke of Bewcastle who is Morgan's oldest brother. Of course, Morgan is not privy to said history.

She meets G while in Brussels (right? I forgot already) right before the Battle of Waterloo (right? I did get the correct battle, did I not?). He realizes who she is and is hell bent on doing some seduction business as a way to get back at said Duke. Nevermind, 18-year-old Morgan's feelings or reputation. Of course, the battle breaks out and things change but do not change.

Morgan spends days, weeks, treating soldiers injured during the battle while G is off searching for someone on her behalf. I found this portion of the story the most compelling. It's clear that war changes everything, propriety is secondary and feelings are on the surface. All through it all, G can't decide if he's about revenge or truly appreciating young Mogan. Yet he never let's go of his desire for revenge.



He accompanies her back to England where he deals with life after nine years of exile (I realize I left that part out, sorry.) and Morgan goes back to family. All of the sudden, things become clear to her that G does not care for her (or does he) but that she is all part of this vengeful business. Then it's all reticules at dawn as she challenges him to a "duel" of sorts in her plan to have revenge on him.

I shan't say much more since that would be giving the story away.

Heroine: Morgan. Her character is written way older than her 18 years. And I'm sure that's because she's a Bedwyn and they are all like superheroes, but still. And then there are times that she's absolutely age appropriate.

Hero: Gervase. Look, he confused me. Like are you being Mr Revenge or Mr Lover. Who are you right now and what the hell are you doing? And when will you learn to let it go?



Why it did or didn't work for me: I simply cannot decide whether it worked or did not work. These were two people determined to hurt the other and, of course, who ended up loving each other. So, that's fine. But that line was never very clear and I guess that is the point. The blurred lines between love and hate.
