Her intention in writing it, beyond setting the record straight, was to create a vivid and lasting chronicle of eight momentous decades, of the fascinating and influential people who passed through her family's lives and the events - large and small - that shaped their worlds. In Times to Remember, Rose Kennedy relates her upbringing as the descendant of Irish immigrants and the daughter of a prominent Boston politician. A spirited, courageous woman who raised nine children while supporting her husband's ventures into film, finance, and politics, she describes the great successes and tragedies of her life: the sources of her strength and the importance of her faith. With equal grace and immediacy, she tells of Election Day, 1960, tensely waiting with Jack at Hyannis Port for returns to come in; and of the weekend in 1939 that she and Joe spent at Windsor Castle as the guests of Queen Elizabeth II. "I have known the joys and sorrows of a full life," Rose Kennedy says, and this book is rich testament to that life.
