For reasons unknown, millions of killer bats have migrated to Manhattan and the city is hanging on by a wing and a prayer. A boy and his father are attacked at a Little League game. A slew of homeless people who live in the subway tunnels are massacred. An elevator ride ends in bloody death for a woman on her way home. And the streets of New York are about to get a whole lot scarier. Detective First Grade Robert Gentry is a good cop with his fair share of problems. Bronx Zoo expert Dr. Nancy Joyce is a loner consumed by her studies. Thrown together by necessity, they team up to solve what seems at first to be a series of random killings, but later turns out to have a terrifying pattern.
