Unspeakable ShaXXXspeares
This book was talking about how music affected the times. And how the times affected music. I was really excited because it was about the 60's which I don't know much about. I know the music but I don't know the underlying themes and reason.
Unfortunately, this book was much more of a man's memoir and his theories. There wasn't much citation and the quotes from the songs often left me more confused then informed. He would speculate on the reasons behind well known songs by the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, and the Who. However, there weren't quotes by the artist or other books to back this reasoning up. It felt more like what the author was getting out of the songs instead of definitively what the artist intended.
I also kept having to youtube the songs because I hadn't heard a lot of them and I wish that there had been more artist's bios.
