Cohn-Sherbok provided a very good survey of the history of Anti-Semitism from Graeco-Roman times through the present. It is a testiment to the Jewish people that we have survived threats from the successor states of Alexander the Great to the present. However, his lack of footnotes is rather annoying. I would like to know where he got some of the stories, ancedotes, statistics, etc.
I probably live in a shettlered universe but I don't see the same level of Anti-Semitism in American cultural and political arenas that Cohn-Sherbok does. Therefore, I am not as pessimistic as he seems to be about this country. Since Farrakhan and Jesse Jackson have fallen from their once, the level of Anti-Semitism from the African-American community appears to be much much lower than it was in the 1980s and 1990s.
I definitely share his views of the disturbng level of Anti-Semitism in the Arab and Islamic world. However, unlike this author, I am not willing to put all of the blame on the Muslims.
