This should not be categorised as a historical romance. There's nothing historical about it. For the millionth time:
1.- ILLEGITIMATE CHILDREN GOT SHIT (NO TITLES, NO ESTATES)
2.- THERE WERE NO ADOPTION PROCEDURES IN ENGLAND (AND WALES) BEFORE 1901.
3.- NO ILLEGIMATE OFFSPRING COULD BECOME LEGITIMATE BY MARRIAGE, OR OTHER MEANS, ONCE HE/SHE WAS BORN.
The crime against basic background knowledge (necessary and uncircumventable, if you want to call yourself a writer of historical romances, irrespective of what your target readership knows or does not know)is compounded by a writing that never rises above the amateur.
