Midnight
4 stars. I've been wanting to read this book for a while just based off of that beautiful cover alone. Add in the fact that it's by Beverly Jenkins and we've got a winner. I really enjoyed it.
I seem to go on and on about how much I love Jenkins's writing every time I review a book by her so I won't here, but just know that she's fantastic at what she does. The characters were everything. Faith is very strong and it honestly broke my heart the things she had to put up with because of her father but she never cowered or backed down, she was headstrong and stood strong for what she wanted and believed in.
And then you have Nicholas who is the most perfect bastard ever and I loved him dearly. He's impulsive and charming and very protective of those he cares about. The whole scene where he confronts Faith's father after he throws her out added about thirty years to my life span. It was wonderful. Their relationship develops very nicely. They have some great banter between them and watching them give in to their feelings was fun.
I've found that Historical romances are very hit or miss with me but I'm glad this one was a hit. It's a lot of fun with a wonderful romance.
